The Union Flag

To mark the Act of Union which created Great Britain and came into force on 1 May 1707, here’s the Union Flag:

The new WordPress Android update is very good but has anybody else noticed that their shortcuts and widgets have stopped working or disappeared?

Lomography in the News

The BBC is extolling the virtues of Lomography here.

It’s nice to see some publicity for the cameras although I have misgivings about the article.  It tells you about the famous friends of Lomography but it doesn’t give you the cons of the system which are the cost of the cameras and the amount of film that you’ll need to go through if you want to get a few good shots.  This isn’t a problem for me because my LC-A is about fifteen years old and bought when they weren’t so extortionately priced and as a serial filmwaster, I’m not put off by34 out of 36 shots being bad.

Examples of my own Lomography can be found here.

Bridge

Here’s two pictures of the same Millennium Bridge at night which I took on a long exposure.  The top one is the better one, but I kind of like the fuzzy, shaky version below as well.  This is what you get for not taking a tripod. What does anyone else think?

We’ll Meet Again

During the Second World War, many young men were sent off to fight in foregn lands and many a tearful farewell was said while your girlfriend checked Facebook.

Summer’s Gone

Summer’s over, the schools go back next week so that must be it.  I was worried that I hadn’t taken enough pictures over the summer with the weather being so bad but I’ve got quite a few rolls of film in the develop, scan, edit and post queue.  If the gods of photography are kind, these are some of things I should be able to blog about in the near future:

  • A human pyramid
  • A really fat frog
  • Classic cars
  • Straw
  • Stars in the night sky
  • A hippy
  • The end of the pier
  • Experiments with long exposures in daylight (not confident about these ones turning up OK)
  • Fountains
  • Meerkats
  • Water features
  • Really bad rain

It occurred to me that I’m still posting stuff I took last year so it may be some time before all of this stuff shows up on her.
